Help & FAQ

Some answers to the questions we get most often. If yours isn't covered here, email meetupmk@protonmail.com and we'll get back to you.

Getting started

What is meetup.mk?

A handy, community-maintained list of mechanical keyboard meetups around the world. Browse upcoming events on the home page, save the ones that interest you with the ♥ icon, and use add a meetup to submit a new event.

What is a mechanical keyboard meetup?

A real-world gathering of mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. Usually a mix of show-and-tell, vendor tables, raffles, and time to type on as many boards as possible. Some are small (a coffee shop and a dozen people), some are full conventions. Both belong here.

How does the heart icon work?

Tap the ♥ on any meetup card to save it. Saved meetups are stored in your browser only (localStorage). No account required, no data leaves your device. Clearing your browser data also clears your saved list.

Submitting a meetup

Who can submit a meetup? Is there a vetting process?

Anyone can submit through add a meetup. Every submission is reviewed by the meetup.mk team for accuracy and relevance before it appears on the site, usually within 24-48 hours.

I submitted a meetup but I don't see it on the site.

It's probably still in the review queue. Submissions are manually approved, which can take 24–48 hours. If it's been longer than that, email meetupmk@protonmail.com and we'll take a look.

My submission form won't go through. What should I do?

Check that every required field is filled and that your image (if any) is under 1MB. The image is optional now, leave it blank and we'll use a placeholder. If you're still stuck, email meetupmk@protonmail.com or reach out on Discord and we'll help you troubleshoot.

Can I edit or delete a meetup after submitting?

Not directly through the site yet. Email meetupmk@protonmail.com with the meetup name and what you'd like changed, and we'll update it for you.

Can I add a recurring meetup?

Currently each submission represents a single event. If you run a recurring meetup, please submit each occurrence as it gets scheduled.

Discovery & site features

Why is my meetup showing under a different month than the event date?

Each meetup's URL year/month corresponds to when it was submitted, not when the event takes place. The card itself always displays the actual event date; only the URL prefix uses the entry month.

Why isn't my city in 'Popular Locations'?

Popular Locations only shows cities with at least one approved meetup. Once a meetup in your city goes live, the city joins the list automatically.

Why do some meetups not appear on the map view?

The map geocodes each meetup's address through OpenStreetMap. Geocoding can take a moment on first load. If a marker is missing, the address may not have resolved yet, or the address couldn't be matched (try refreshing or check that the meetup address is complete).

How does the newsletter work?

The signup form in the header subscribes you to occasional updates via Buttondown. No spam, easy to unsubscribe at any time. Your email stays with Buttondown. We never get a copy.

Trust & responsibility

Are you responsible for tickets, refunds, or venue changes?

No. meetup.mk is a directory, not the organizer. Tickets, refunds, and financial transactions are handled by each meetup's organizers. We do our best to keep listings accurate, but always check the official meetup channels (website / Discord) for the latest details.

If something goes wrong at an event, are you to blame?

No. We don't organize the events listed here, we just collect and surface them. If you spot incorrect or out-of-date information, email meetupmk@protonmail.com and we'll fix it as quickly as we can.

How do I report an incorrect or spam listing?

For now, email meetupmk@protonmail.com with the meetup name and what's wrong. A built-in report button is on the roadmap.

Is meetup.mk open source? Who runs it?

Yes, meetup.mk is open source. It is maintained by akira, MVKB, blivioniag, and quaddepos, a small group of contributors from the mechanical keyboard community.
